Description:

Applications are invited for two permanent lectureships in the
Department of Phonetics and Linguistics, tenable from 1st October 2004
or as soon as possible thereafter. The Department has an international
reputation for its research and received a 5* rating in the last UK
Research Assessment Exercises. UCL provides an outstanding research
environment, and there are excellent opportunities for collaborative
work.

The appointments will be in the areas of language acquisition and
phonetics. For applicants in the area of language acquisition, a focus
on semantics/pragmatics or syntax will be required. For a position in
phonetics, a focus on speech production and/or experimental phonetics
will be required. For either position, experience with experimental or
corpus work would be an advantage. The successful candidates will
contribute to teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Teaching experience is therefore essential. The successful candidates
will be expected to carry out high quality research.  Evidence of
substantial research achievement in the form of published output is a
prerequisite.

Salary range Lecturer B scale: £26,270 - £33,679 per annum plus £2,134
London Allowance (pay award pending), depending on qualifications and
experience.
