General Summary
===============

Uses knowledge of languages and linguistics to ensure data accuracy
and correct behavior of phonetic, hyphenation, and inflection features
in spellcheck and thesaurus products. Supports Research and
Development Department in the development and testing of these
products.

Maintains Company's linguistic databases. Work is performed onsite in
Burlington, NJ (turnpike exit 5).


Responsibilities
================

1. Maintains and develops linguistic databases and rules, including
phonetic spell correction rules, inflection databases,
language-specific grammar guides, and taboo word lists.

2. Adapts these linguistic databases, guides, and rules for specific
products.

3. Provides support and advice to the Software, Product Management,
and Quality Assurance departments on language-related product features
and bugs throughout the product development cycle.

4. Uses a wide range of Linux/UNIX command-line utilities and XML
constructs, and devises reusable UNIX scripts and/or high-level
programming language code to accomplish linguistic tasks in an
efficient and repeatable manner.


Qualifications
==============

1. MA degree in linguistics, languages, or other relevant field or
equivalent required.

2. A minimum of four years of professional working experience in
linguistics, translation, or a related field required.

3. Native or near-native ability to read, write, and speak both
English and at least one of the following languages is required:
Hungarian, Czech, Slovak, Turkish, Modern Greek.  Mastery of as many
as possible of the other languages is desirable.  Working knowledge of
additional European languages and detailed linguistic and
lexicographic principles also required.

4. Solid working knowledge of Linux/UNIX platforms required.  Working
knowledge of a wide range of UNIX utilities, UNIX scripting languages,
and XML constructs desirable.
