We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.

In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.

To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Subject: glottal stop in Udeghe as in Amerindian languages

Dear linguistlist colleagues, we added some Udghe texts to our world
language corpora. Udeghe is said to belong to the Amur group of the
Tungus-Manchurian language family. It is interesting to note that it has
the glottal stop like many American Indian languages of the South and
North Americas. Do you know if any linguist compared Udeghe to
AmerIndian languages? I'm going to do it, but I'm not sure if it has
been already done. I'd appreciate your sending me your e-mail messages
directly to my e-mail address yutamb at hotmail.com Looking forward to
hearing from you soon, remain yours sincerely Yuri Tambovtsev
