Meeting Description:

This conference will bring together applied linguists and educational
linguists to reflect on the potential of task-based language teaching
(TBLT) for promoting first, second, and foreign language
acquisition. Special attention will be paid to the implementation of
TBLT into the classroom. Besides exploring the theoretical rationale
behind task-based language teaching, this conference will focus on
what needs to be done (in terms of teacher training, syllabus and
curriculum development, development of assessment tools, etc.) to make
TBLT "work" in the real world. The programme includes poster
presentations, paper presentations, workshops, symposia, and plenary
speakers. The conference aims to bring about lively discussions and
vivid exchange between linguists from all over the world on current
research and hands-on experience with regard to the theory and
practice of task-based language teaching.

Meeting Description:

The Ninth Neural Computation and Psychology Workshop (NCPW9) will be
held in Plymouth, England from September 8-10, 2004. Each year this
highly focused conference and lively forum brings together researchers
from such diverse disciplines as psychology, artificial intelligence,
cognitive science, computer science, neuroscience, and philosophy. The
special theme of this year's workshop is Neural Network Modelling of
Language, Cognition and Action. However, paper submissions are not
restricted to such topics, but will regard all neural computation
models of cognitive and psychological processes. About 30 papers will
be accepted as oral presentations, in addition to posters. After the
conference, participants will be invited to submit a paper for the
post-conference proceedings. This Workshop has always been
characterized by the presentation of high quality papers, its limited
size and by taking place in an informal setting. These features are
explicitly designed to encourage interaction among the researchers
present.

PAPER SUBMISSIONS are INVITED in this and others areas covering the
wider subject of neural modelling of cognitive and psychological
processes.

Papers will be considered for oral and poster presentations. After the
conference, participants will be invited to submit a paper for the
post-conference proceedings. This Workshop has always been
characterized by the presentation of high quality papers, its limited
size and the fact that it takes place in an informal setting. These
features are explicitly designed to encourage interaction among the
