Description:

Assistant/Associate Professor in French and Spanish

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at The University of
Texas at San Antonio invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or
Associate Professor position in French and Spanish starting Fall 2005.

Responsibilities:  Teaching a variety of courses in the French and Spanish
programs either at the UTSA Downtown Campus or the 1604 Campus and
occasionally at night, leadership in development of the French program,
coordination of language instruction in French and Spanish.

Required qualifications:
Assistant Professor:  Academic training in French and Spanish at the graduate
level, university or college teaching experience in both languages, native or
near-native ability in French and/or Spanish.  Ph.D. in French, Spanish, or
related field by May 31, 2005.  Research record or demonstrated research
potential commensurate with experience.

Associate Professor: Academic training in French and Spanish at the graduate
level, university or college teaching experience in both languages, native or
near-native ability in French and/or Spanish.  Ph.D. in French, Spanish, or
related field.  Research record commensurate with experience.  Tenure will be
granted to the associate professor candidate on the basis of appropriate
record of research, teaching, and service experience.

Preferred qualifications:
Assistant and Associate Professor:  Specialization in linguistics,
experience with Spanish for Heritage Speakers, experience with technology
enhanced language learning.

Applicants must submit application letter, indicating which rank applying for,
current CV, unofficial transcripts of graduate studies, and three letters of
recommendation to the address below.  Review of completed applications will
begin November 15, 2004 and continue until the position is filled.  Applicants
who are not U.S. citizens must state their current visa and residency status.
