Meeting Description:

Jan Boudouin de Courtenay (1845-1929), Linguist, Publicist, Man
on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the great linguist's birth. Papers concerning various
aspects of Jan Boudouin de Courtenay's biography, his achievements in linguistics,  as well as his
activity in the public domain are welcome.

A special panel will be held on the so called 'Kazan School' and the role of Jan Boudouin de
Courtenay and Mikolaj Kruszewski in it.

The Jagellonian University and Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences organize an international
conference to be held in Krakow on September 19-21, 2005 on

Jan Boudouin de Courtenay (1845-1929), Linguist, Publicist, Man.

The event will be organized on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of the great linguist's birth.

Papers concerning various aspects of Jan Boudouin de Courtenay's biography, his achievements
in linguistics,  as well as his activity in the public domain are welcome.

The main language of the conference will be English; papers presented in Russian or Polish will be
interpreted into English.
