Lodz Papers in Pragmatics (LPP)

FOCUS STATEMENT: LPP is a new international journal committed to publishing
excellent research in the area of pragmatics and related disciplines
pertaining to all aspects of human communication. LPP aims to promote
constructive interaction between theoretical and critical findings related
to language use and other modes of communication. The journal seeks to
publish original papers which offer analyses of new empirical material
and/or theoretical insights. Papers focusing on current methodological
debates are also welcome. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by external
referees. Book reviews will also be published.

LPP is published yearly, in one volume of approx. 350 pp. by University of
Lodz Press (first volume to be published by Dec. 2005).

GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS:
The length of submitted articles should be no more than 10,000 words; book
reviews up to 5,000 words.
All submissions should be made electronically as e-mail attachments (in
Word for Windows .doc files or compatible) at the following address:
LPP at uni.lodz.pl. Upon acceptance, a disk and two copies of the manuscript
should be submitted, printed on one side of A4 or letter-size paper, with 3
cm margins on all sides. The text should be double-spaced throughout,
including quotes, data examples, references and notes (although these
should be kept to a minimum). All pages should be numbered. Non-English
words should be italicized or underlined with glosses in single quotation
marks.
All papers should include an abstract of no more than 200 words and up to
six key words.
Citations in the text should give the name of the author/editor, the year
of publication, and page reference (for quoted material only), all in
parentheses, for example: (Jones 1989: 199). For quoted material, apply
single quotes throughout except for quotes within quotes where double
quotation marks should be applied. Use et al. for more than two authors.
Please, do not use abbreviations such as ibid. and loc. cit.
The reference section should contain all works cited in the text, and only
those, and they must be listed in alphabetical order of author/editor, with
complete bibliographical detail. Journal and book titles must be given in
full and must be italicized. Page references must be given for articles in
books and journals.
In the case of book reviews, full bibliographical data (author's/editor's
name, title, place of publication, publisher, date, number of pages) should
precede the critique.
