Description:

Tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning September 2005.  Ph.D. or ABD in
Chinese, French, or Japanese, must be from an accredited institution of higher
education.  Doctorate is required for tenure.  Minimum qualifications: Native or
near-native fluency in English and one of the following: Chinese, French, and
Japanese. Ability to teach full range of language courses in Chinese, French, or
Japanese. Knowledge of the application of technology to language instruction.
Ability to provide direction to the language laboratory. Strong administrative
skills to coordinate the Single Subject Matter Preparation Programs in French,
Japanese, and Spanish.  Must have: Potential for or record of research,
scholarly and/or creative activity involving students whenever possible.
Demonstrated potential for effective teaching or teaching experience using a
variety of methodologies. Demonstrated ability and/or interest in working in a
multiethnic, multicultural environment.  Initial salary commensurate with
qualifications and experience.  Employment contingent upon proof of eligibility
to work in the United States and completion of the University's Application for
