Subject: Linguistic Society of America Honorary Members 
 

The LSA Committee for Honorary Members (myself, Felix Ameka, and Johanna
Nichols) would like to offer an opportunity to the readership of
LinguistList (who are members of the LSA) to nominate linguists, especially
scholars from the third world, for honorary membership in the LSA. This is
a very high honor awarded only to outstanding linguists internationally. 

You may send nominations directly to me, via email. Please include a
statement about the nominee, something about why their career contributions
to linguistics should be considered by the HMC of the LSA, as well as a
current CV if possible. The nominee, obviously, should not be informed of
their nomination in order to avoid embarrassment, since at most three new
honorary members can be accepted in any year.
