AILA has now approved the establishment of a Research Network on Language
Policy.

The Network will be open to any AILA member conducting research or teaching
in the various fields of language policy and management. As a first step,
two events will be sponsored by the new ReN, one at the Sociolinguistics
Symposium in Limerick in July 2006 and a second at the ALAA meeting in
Brisbane about the same time. At these meetings, plans will be developed
for continuing activities of the Network including the 2008 AILA
Convention, and an Organizer will be elected.

The organizing committee for the ReN is Gabrielle Hogan-Brun, University of
Bristol; Elana Shohamy, Tel Aviv University; Jasone Cenoz, University of
the Basque Country; Richard Baldauf, University of Queensland; and Bernard
Spolsky (emeritus, Bar-Ilan University) is Interim Organizer.

To be kept informed, send an e-mail with your name and e-mail address on
the first line to Bernard Spolsky bspolsky at gmail.com
