The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

Description:
The Department of Cognitive Science at Johns Hopkins University seeks an eminent
senior faculty member with a strong record of conducting and directing language
research and a proven record of procuring outside funding. The ideal candidate
will study processing and learning at multiple levels of language structure
(speech perception, phonology, syntax) in native and second languages, in
production and comprehension, using computer modeling and experimental methods
(behavioral and neuroimaging) in diverse populations (infants, normally and
abnormally developing children, intact and neurally impaired adults). The
ability to conduct effective teaching, student supervision, and collaboration in
a formally-oriented, highly interdisciplinary cognitive science environment is
also desirable, as are research and teaching interests outside the domain of
language.

Johns Hopkins University actively encourages interest from minorities and
women.
