Description:

The University of Missouri-Rolla, Department of Arts, Languages &
Philosophy, seeks to fill a tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish
position beginning Fall 2007. Minimum requirements are a PhD in Spanish
linguistics, preferably in second language acquisition; native or
near-native command of Spanish and English; an excellent teaching record at
all levels to native speakers of English in a US university setting; and a
proven record of scholarship and research evidenced by publications and
presentations. 

Primary duties will be to teach undergraduate Spanish courses including
language, literature, and linguistics at all levels, to advise students
pursuing a Spanish minor and to serve as faculty adviser for the Spanish
Club. Interest in multimedia approaches in teaching and computer assisted
language learning is highly desirable.  Preference will be given to
candidates with the ability to coordinate the Spanish program on campus and
a strong interest in developing and promoting outreach programs to
popularize Spanish studies at UMR.  The salary is competitive, based on
qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until the
