Description:

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University of
Oregon seeks an East Asian linguist specializing in Japanese, with a strong
secondary interest in Chinese and/or Korean.  

This tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor begins
09/16/08.  All areas of research will be considered. Candidates should be
prepared to offer graduate and undergraduate courses on a wide range of
linguistic topics, to contribute fully to the development of a joint
Linguistics/EALL program in second language teaching, and to help oversee
the program in Japanese language instruction.  

A PhD in linguistics or a related field, native or near-native fluency in
Japanese and English are required. Candidates who promote and enhance
diversity are strongly desired. The salary is commensurate with
