About the College

The Velammal Engg.College, founded by Shri.M.V.Muthuramalingam, a Professional 
Engineer  is one among the Top five Engineering Colleges excelling in all
aspects such as University Examination Results & Ranks, Higher Studies, Research
& Development and placement. The National Board of Accreditation has accredited
all the courses offered by the College.

Department of English and Other Foreign Languages

The Department focuses its attention on the needs of future Engineers by
imparting Technical English, Business English & Communicative English. Apart
from this, the Department trains students for Business English Certificate
Examination (BEC) conducted by British Council and Certificates awarded by
Cambridge University, London. 

German, Japanese and French Languages options are offered to students of I and
II year. At the end of II year, students are eligible to write the first level
examinations of Max Mueller Bhavan, ABK AOTS DOSOKAI, and Alliance Francaise
respectively.

The Department is well equipped with State-of-the -Art language Laboratory,
which is unique in feature. This lab plays a vital role in improving students'
communicative skills like listening, speaking and pronunciation.

Focus of the Programme

·	The department concentrates on the overall development of students right from
the entry level to the end-semester. To enhance the communicative skills of the
students the Language teachers have to equip themselves to impart them. With a
view to meet this requirement, the department of English has arranged for a
one-day Faculty Development Programme. 

Registration Fee : Rs. 150-  is Inclusive of  kit, Materials, Lunch &
Refreshments. D.D. is to be purchased in favour of Velammal Engineering College,
Chennai-66. Registration can be done over phone, through E-mail; in special
cases spot Registration also accepted.
