Description:

The Department of Linguistics of the University of Ottawa, invites
applications for a tenure track position in Psycholinguistics with
specialization in second language acquisition and/or bilingualism at the
Assistant Professor level, commencing July 1, 2008. For more detail on our

Applicants should have a PhD in (psycho-) linguistics, with evidence of
strong research potential. Emphasis should be on psycholinguistic aspects
of second language acquisition and/or bilingualism; additional areas of
psycholinguistics (such as first language acquisition, processing, etc.)
would be an asset. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an
active research program that complements the Department's strengths in
linguistic theory, and would be able to take an active role in our
newly-equipped psycholinguistics laboratory. The successful candidate could
also benefit from the new Official Languages and Bilingualism Institute at
the University of Ottawa, which aims to become a prominent research center
in the areas of second language and bilingualism. Preference will be given
to candidates able to teach in both English and French within a specified
period of time. 

Applicants should submit a c.v., representative samples of their research,
and arrange for three (3) letters of recommendation to be sent directly to
Dr. Marie-Helene Cote, Chair, Department of Linguistics at the address

The salary is determined in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

The University of Ottawa is justly proud of its 150-year tradition of

their second official language. At the time of tenure, professors are
expected to have the ability to function in a bilingual setting.
