The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

The School of Arts and Languages at Högskolan Dalarna seeks a Lecturer in
Spanish (Ref nr 2008/554/30)

Description of the position
We are seeking a lecturer in Spanish for a 30-60 % post. The post is
temporary, from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2009, with the possibility of
extension beyond that date. The post is based in Falun, Sweden. Demand for
the subject has increased markedly in recent years and it is likely that if
the post is extended it will be full-time.

Responsibilities for this post are teaching, development and planning of
courses at undergraduate level. A significant portion of the teaching is
done via distance-learning technology. Other responsibilities include
participation in the development and administration of the subject area as
a whole.

Necessary qualifications for the post are:
1. Completion of undergraduate education (Bachelor's degree) or equivalent,
2. Pedagogical training or equivalent experience,
3. Demonstrated teaching ability (HF 4 kap 9 §).

Hiring criteria include the amount of expertise in the areas specified in
the qualifications for the post, as well as administrative and other skills
relevant to the duties described for the post. In addition, the applicant's
skills at developing and leading cooperation with fellow staff members and
the local community, as well as keeping informed about research and
development in the subject area will be taken into account.

Pedagogical and scientific expertise will be treated equally for the post.

National goals regarding the job market, equality, and society will also be
taken into consideration (HF 4 kap 15 §).

Additional Qualifications
Applicants will preferably have a doctorate in Spanish linguistics. Since
the staff of the university's language department work closely together, a
cooperative attitude is necessary for the position. Experience with
teaching and course development as well as experience with internet-based
learning is also of merit.
