The LINGUIST List strongly encourages employers to use
non-discriminatory standards in hiring policy. In particular we urge
that employers do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity,
nationality, age, religion, gender, or sexual orientation. However, we
have no means of enforcing these standards.

Job seekers should pay special attention to language in ads regarding
employment requirements and are encouraged to consult our international
employment page http://linguistlist.org/jobs/jobnet.html. This page has been set
up so that people can report on the employment standards of various countries.

second language pedagogy, the use of technology in support of these
domains. The fellowship will be held at the LRC for a twelve-month period,
beginning at a mutually agreed upon date between July 1 and September 1,
2008. The term of the fellowship will be for one year.

Associated with the University's Language Research Centre (LRC) and
collaborating with a wide variety of units studying second language
phenomena, the Fellowship holder will be expected to undertake an
appropriate research programme in the domain of Language Learning and Literacy.

The purpose of the fellowship is to provide an opportunity for scholars who
have recently completed doctoral studies to pursue further their chosen
areas of scholarly research. The post-doctoral fellow will have an office
in the LRC and will have the use of the University's Library facilities.
They will be expected to share their research in a public lecture and to
involve themselves in the community of scholars working at the LRC and

of work in a multi-disciplinary context with a team of researchers
committed to both theoretical and applied research.

The Fellowship offers a competitive salary and benefits package. Fellows
may also augment the stipend by teaching up to a maximum of one full course.

Eligibility:
All applicants must include proof of the date the PhD was or will be
conferred. Candidates in the final year of their doctoral programmes who
wish to apply may do so on the clear understanding that the award will be
withdrawn if all academic requirements for the degree are not completed by
September 1, 2008.

Application Procedure:
Applications must contain (i) a curriculum vitae; (ii) a current
transcript; (iii) a detailed statement of the research proposal in a form
that makes the applicant's research project understandable to experts in
his or her own discipline; and (iv) a descriptive title and abstract of 150

of the application are to be submitted to the LRC. It is particularly
important that the date of Conferment of Degree and official Masters and
Doctoral transcripts be included.

Applicants are to provide names of three scholars whose opinion the LRC may
seek. It normally solicits additional external assessments. The
applicant's list of referees is to be submitted on a separate page that
