Description:

Applications are invited: Assistant Professor of Linguistics. 

Duties: The successful candidate will be jointly appointed in the
Linguistics Program and the Department of English (See Linguistics website
for courses). The faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate
courses, including Introduction to Linguistics, Syntax, Semantics,
Morphology, the Development of Modern English, Bilingualism, Practical
Grammar and other courses. The faculty member will also paticipate in the
development of the growing Linguistics Program, including in course
development, student advising and assessment.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Linguistics. Specialization in formal linguistics
(syntax, semantics, morphology and phonology). Strong preference will be
given to candidates with a secondary specialization in Historical
Linguistics/History of English, Language Acquisition, Bilingualism, and/or
Socio-linguistics/Dialect Studies. There should be commitment to excellence
in undergraduate teaching, an active research agenda, and an interest in
participating in departmental and university activities. The faculty member
should also have broad experience in teaching undergraduate linguistics,
with the ability to teach all of some of the following: Introduction to
Linguistics, Semantics, Syntax, Morphology, the Development of Modern
English, American English, Practical Grammar, Bilingualism and Language
Acquisition; and have interest in working in an interdisciplinary
environment.
