Description:

One position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Lecturer in the
following field of study: "Comparative Indo-European linguistics, with
particular research interest in the history of Latin, language, phonology
and morphology of Latin, Latin lexicon and semantics, Greek and Latin
contacts, pragmatics of classical languages".

For all academic ranks, an earned doctorate from a recognized University is
required. Requirements for each academic rank depend on the candidate's
years of academic experience, the research record and scientific
contributions, involvement in teaching and in the development of high
quality undergraduate and graduate curricula. The minimum requirements for
each academic rank can be found at:

The official languages of the University are Greek and/or Turkish. Holding
a citizenship of the Republic of Cyprus is not a requirement. The annual
gross salary for these positions (including the 13th salary) is:

Assistant Professor (Scale ?13-?14) € 51,511.46 - € 69,464.85
Lecturer (Scale ?12-?13) € 43,501.90 - € 63,703.90

Interested individuals must submit their application both in printed form
(one hardcopy) and in electronic form (stored on a compact disk CD/DVD)
before the application deadline. The application must include the following
items:
1) A letter stating the academic rank or ranks for which the applicant is
interested in, the field of study and the date when he/she may be able to
assume duties in the event of selection.
2) A Curriculum Vitae
3) A brief summary of previous work and a statement of plans for future
research - up to 1500 words
4) A list of publications
5) Copies of the three most representative publications
6) Copies of degree certificates should be scanned and included in the CD/DVD
7) Copy of PhD Thesis in print and electronic form (CD/DVD)

In addition, applicants must ask three academic referees to send letters of
recommendation directly to the University. The names and addresses of these
referees must be submitted with the application since additional
confidential information may be sought. The letters of recommendation must
be sent to the University of Cyprus by Monday 13th of October 2008. The
Curriculum Vitae and the statement of previous work and future plans should
be written in Greek and/or in Turkish and in one international language,
preferably English. Applications and other documents submitted in the past
will not be considered and must be resubmitted.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.

All application material must be submitted by Monday 13th of October 2008,
2:00 p.m., to the address provided below (tel. 22894158) by hand or sent by
post (stamped by the post office by the 13th of October 2008 at the
latest). Applications
will be considered valid provided they are received by the Human Resources
Services by the 20th of October 2008 at the latest. The sole responsibility
will be upon the interested applicant.
