Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Tuebingen University offers two junior
positions (phonology/phonetics and semantics) with the beginning of summer
semester 2009.

For both positions duties include teaching at the undergraduate and the
graduate level. The teaching load is four hours per week, i.e. two courses
per semester. Furthermore, the candidates are expected to conduct original
research in their area of expertise, and to actively participate in larger
linguistic research endeavours at Tuebingen University.

Candidates should hold a PhD at the time of the appointment.

The appointments should start as soon as possibe after April 1, 2009, and
not later than October 1, 2009. Interviews will be conducted until the
positions are filled. Please send your material (a cover letter, CV
including list of publications, statement of research and teaching
interests, names of up to three references) electronically to the address
indicated below.

1. Phonology/Phonetics

The successful candidate will be an expert in phonology and phonetics, with
a strong background in experimental methods. A secondary specialization in
psycholinguistics, morphology or pragmatics will be considered a plus.

Salary will be on the German E13 scale ('Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter').
The appointment will be for four years.

2. Semantics:

The successful candidate will be an expert in formal semantics. A secondary
specialization in another area of linguistics, especially in pragmatics,
psycholinguistis or syntax will be considered a plus.

Depending on the position in the career, the salary will be on the German
A13 ('Akademischer Rat auf Zeit') or E13 ('Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter')
scale. The appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of
renewal for another three years.
