Description:

The Faculty of Modern Languages of Heidelberg University is filling the
following posts at the earliest opportunity: 

W3-Professorship in English Philology: Linguistics 
W3-Professorship in English Philology: Linguistics 

Duties include teaching and examination in the B.A., M.A. and Lehramt
degree courses offered by the English Department, research with a focus on
synchronic linguistics (succession Marianne Hundt) or diachronic
linguistics (succession Gabriele Stein), administration, and attracting
funding for research. The successful candidates are also expected to show a
willingness to participate in or initiate joint research projects with
other modern language departments or faculties. 

Prerequisite for the selection by the appointment committee are teaching
experience at university level and a distinguished record of scholarship
and research, including a Ph.D. and substantial post-doctoral publications
in the field of English Linguistics.

This is a full professorship carrying a salary payable at the W3 rate (see
www.lbv.bwl.de/service/gehaltstabellen/beamte/besoldungstabelleab082004.pdf ). 

The post carries tenure. The university is striving to increase the
proportion of women in teaching and research and therefore expressly
encourages qualified female candidates to send in an application.
