Description:

The Department of Communication and Information Sciences, in particular the
research program Communication and Cognition, currently is looking for two new
enthusiastic and competent PhD colleagues on the following projects:

- Project 1: The Production of Referring Expressions
- Project 2: Prosodic Markers of Information Status

The two projects are part of the study of how communication partners adapt their
communicative behavior (their prosodic and referential behavior respectively)
given different production and audience design conditions. The projects fit in
research areas which are covered in other research projects in the department.

Requirements
For the two positions, we seek a candidate with a background in experimental
psycholinguistics, communication & information sciences, social sciences or some
related area, with experience in doing experiments, and (depending on the
project) a proven interest in one or more of the following area's: phonetics,
speech or writing production, discourse reference, multimodal reference,
audience design and alignment.

The PhD candidates have a (research) master degree in one of the aforementioned
areas, a strong interest in doing research, excellent writing skills and a good
command of English. Developing and defending a project plan within the research
area of the project will be part of the procedure.
