Description:

The Department of Modern Languages and the Utrecht institute of Linguistics
OTS are looking for an: 
Assistant professor of German Linguistics (1,0 fte)

Within this full-time tenure-track appointment (part-time is negotiable),
you will teach in the domain of German language and culture at the bachelor
and master levels. You will be partially responsible for teaching German
linguistics and second language acquisition of German, as well as
fulfilling related coordinating tasks. You will teach also within various
related crosslingual programmes, the Educational Master and in the Research
Master Linguistics. You will carry out research at an internationally
acknowledged level within the area of German linguistics, fitting the
research programme of the Utrecht Institute of Linguistics (Uil-OTS). You
will also perform various job-related administrative tasks.

We require: 
-	extensive experience in teaching German linguistics and second language
acquisition of German, both at the bachelor and master levels; 
-	extensive research experience in these areas, proven by a finished PhD
and publications at an internationally recognised level; 
-	experience with successful applications for external funding is recommended; 
-	experience in a coordinating positions is recommended; 
-	good communication skills; 
-	basic teaching qualifications; if not, being prepared to obtain them; 
-	fluency in German; 
-	proficiency in English.
Non-Dutch candidates are required to reach fluency in Dutch within two
years of appointment.

We offer a full-time appointment for 2 years (part-time is negotiable).
According to University regulations (Functies, Loopbanen en Waardering
(FLOW)) you are expected to obtain basic teaching qualifications within
this period of time. Given satisfactory performance within that period, the
appointment will be changed to a permanent one. Depending on your knowledge
and experience, your monthly gross salary will be minimally 3,195 EUR -
(scale 11 according to the Collective Employment Agreement of the Dutch
Universities) and maximally 4,970 EUR - (scale 12), based on a full-time basis.
