Description:

Fixed-term university teacher post in English language 1.8.2010-31.7.2011. 

The task involves the teaching of academic communication skills, in
particular scientific writing. Coverage is sought for two permanent members
of staff who will be on leave of absence for the period mentioned.
							
Required qualifications:
According to the University of Jyväskylä's service regulations a university
teacher is expected to have a Master's degree and teaching experience
necessary to perform the duties in question. In evaluating this, experience
in teaching and supervising students, pedagogical training, teaching
material produced, other teaching-related merits and, if necessary,
performance in a trial lecture will all be taken into account. 

Remuneration:
In accordance with teaching and research staff level 5 (2636,80
Euros/month). In addition, an individual pay component is paid on the basis
of job performance, which can amount to a maximum of 46,3% of the
job-specific pay component.

Consideration of teaching merits: When assessing teaching skill
consideration will be given to pedagogical training, practical experience
gained through teaching work, ability to produce teaching material, other
merits gained through teaching and teaching ability demonstrated by means
of possible trial lectures. Candidates should attach a curriculum vitae and
a portfolio of teaching merits to their application.

Language Centre teaching involves the arrangement of language and
communication studies in accordance with degree requirements for university
students. The primary task in the posts concerned is research communication
in English, in which the main emphasis is on scientific writing and on
developing the teaching and assessment of the same. The task requires
acquaintance with research connected to writing in English as well as with
intercultural and interdisciplinary conventions, an excellent ability in
English (education in English at the very least) and corresponding teaching
experience. Subject-specific studies, work experience at an
English-language university and familiarity with new learning environments
will be regarded as particular merits.
