Description:

Open Rank (Assistant/Associate/Full) Professor, University of Maryland,
College Park

The Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences (CAA-accredited) invites
applicants for a tenured/tenure-track position in Language Sciences or
Disorders, beginning August 2012. Qualifications for the faculty position
include an earned doctorate in speech-language pathology, language
sciences, or related neuroscience or cognitive science areas. All relevant
areas of expertise will be considered. Applicants should demonstrate a
publication record, teaching experience, and history of external funding
commensurate with level of appointment. CCC and/or a research focus on
language disorders is strongly preferred. Responsibilities include
establishing an independent research program, teaching undergraduate and
graduate courses, mentoring graduate students, and participating in
departmental and university activities. Colleagues who would be interested
in furthering research ties with interdisciplinary initiatives on campus
(such as the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science Program, Language Science
at Maryland, and/or the Maryland Neuroimaging Center), or who will
strengthen connections with other departments on campus (such as human
development, special education, linguistics, or psychology), are strongly
encouraged to apply. Salary is negotiable, depending upon qualifications
and experience. 

The department offers highly-ranked programs leading to BA, MA, AudD and
PhD degrees, and is a key contributor to the largest language science
community in North America (http://www.bsos.umd.edu/hesp,
http://languagescience.umd.edu). The College Park campus is located in the
Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area in close proximity to numerous
world-renowned medical institutions and research facilities including the
NIH, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Johns Hopkins
University, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
