Meeting Description:

The International Academic Forum in conjunction with its global partners is proud to announce the Second Annual Asian Conference on Language Learning, to be held from April 26-28, 2012, at the Ramada Osaka, Osaka, Japan.

Conference Theme: Globalization, Culture and Society: What role does language play?

In today's world, culture and ideas move from country to country and region to region almost effortlessly. And as a result, the world around us is changing at breakneck speed. Yet, there is one constant among all the change - the need to communicate. And communication is achieved through language. Whether one is talking about film or songs, news reports and documentaries, internet chatting, business meetings and negotiations, or even reading a popular novel, language is not only crucial, it is paramount.

Thus with language and language learning at the heart of globalization, we invite language educators, administrators, policy makers, and others to join us at ACLL 2012 as we examine the role language learning plays and will continue to play in the future along with its affect on our cultures and societies.

The aim of this International Conference is to encourage academics, scholars and practitioners representing an exciting diversity of countries, cultures, and religion to meet and exchange ideas and views in a forum encouraging respectful dialogue. By bringing together a number of university scholars working throughout Japan, Asia, and beyond to share ideas, ACLL 2012 will afford the opportunity for renewing old acquaintances, making new contacts, and networking across higher education and beyond.

We hope you can join us in Osaka in 2012!

Professor Steve Cornwell
Conference Chairman, ACLL/ACTC 2012
Professor, Department of International and English Interdisciplinary Studies, Osaka Women's University, Japan
Director of Programs, & Member of the Board of Directors, Japan Association of Language Teachers (JALT)
