Meeting Description:

Language at the Interface

The Department of Linguistics, School of Philology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, is pleased to announce the 32nd Annual Meeting to be held in Thessaloniki on May 6-8, 2011. We invite contributions that highlight:
 
(a) The interface among the grammatical components (phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics)
(b) The relation between language and other cognitive components such as memory and processing
(c) The role of theoretical linguistics in speech and language therapy and 
(d) The role of empirical methods from computational, corpus-based, experimental and sociolinguistic approaches to language research in the construction of formal linguistic analyses. 

Due to the thematic diversity, the 32nd Meeting will be organized into four thematic workshops, each headed by one or two keynote speakers.

The thematic workshops are:

A. Grammar at the Interface
B. Language Processing and Memory
C. Linguistics and Language Pathologies 
D. Empirical Methods in Formal Linguistics Research 

Call for Papers:

Those who wish to participate in the 32nd Annual Meeting with a presentation are invited to submit:

(a) Two copies of their abstracts (one anonymous and one signed) to amgl32-2011 at lit.auth.gr by the 20th of February 2011. Notification of acceptance will be sent by the 10th of March 2011. Your abstract should be submitted electronically as a word and as a pdf file. The anonymous copy should be free of references to the names of the author(s). The name 'Author' with the publication date of the article can be used instead. 

Submissions should be in the following format:

Length: One A4 page (including bibliography)
Font: Times New Roman 12pt
Space: single
Margins: 1 inch all sides
For the signed copy: title, author(s), affiliation, email address (centered)
For the anonymous copy: title (centered)

(b) A named summary of their abstract (max. 200 words) to be included, if accepted, in the conference booklet.

Each participant is entitled to submit only one (single or joined) paper-presentation. The papers may be presented either in Greek or in English and they will be 20 minutes long followed by a 10-minute discussion.

Pre-conference Graduate Workshop:

A pre-conference postgraduate workshop will be held on the 6th of May 2011. Young researchers (e.g. postgraduate and doctoral students) are encouraged to submit an abstract on any area of linguistics. State-of-the-art and review papers will not be accepted for presentation. The papers that will be accepted for presentation may be further submitted for publication in the proceedings.

Participation Fee:

Standard fee: 60 euros
Student fee (for undergraduate and postgraduate students): 30 euros

The price includes the conference material, coffee breaks and the Proceedings of the 32nd Annual Meeting to be published the following year.
