Description:

The Department of Linguistics, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences 
at the University of Connecticut, Storrs, is accepting applications for a 
tenure-track position in semantics at the Assistant Professor level, expected 
to start August 23, 2012.

Minimum qualifications: a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field, completed 
by start date of employment; primary research focus on formal semantics 
within a generative framework; evidence or promise of a strong 
research/publication record; ability to teach graduate courses in formal 
semantics, and a range of courses in the Department's undergraduate 
curriculum; and research interests meshing well with those of the 
Department's current faculty members. Equivalent foreign degrees are 
acceptable. 

Preferred qualifications: the ability to teach graduate courses in a second 
area of linguistics; the ability to contribute through research, teaching, 
and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning 
experience.

Appointment terms: The successful candidate's primary academic 
appointment will be in the Department of Linguistics at the Storrs campus 
with the possibility of work at UConn's regional campuses across the state. 
Salary will be commensurate with background, qualifications and 
experience. 

While an appointment at the Assistant Professor rank is preferred, qualified 
candidates whose research, teaching, or service will make an exceptional 
contribution to UConn's commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher 
education may be appointed at a higher rank.

Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the 86th annual meeting of the 
Linguistic Society of America, January 5-8, 2012. Applicants should
