Abstract:
This book presents the first ever-systematic analysis of The Morphology of
Yoruba Nominals in Ilorin Dialect, a language of the Benue-Congo sub-group
of the Niger-Kordofanian phyla spoken by 30 million speakers found in south-
western Nigeria and some part of Benin and Togo Republics. In Nigeria, they
are located in the extreme south-west of the country, and some few speakers
are located in the Middle-Belt of northern part of the country.
The book is divided into five chapters: the first part discusses the
geographical areas of the people, historical origin, and its linguistic
classification as well as dialects of the language. The second part treats
nominal morphology of the language i.e. nouns, adjectives and adverbs. The
third part of the book discusses nominal morphological processes of the
language, identifying the followings: affixation, reduplication and modification.
The fourth part discuses Yoruba nominal syllable structure establishing three
types of open/ closed syllable in the nominal form of the language while, the
last chapter treats dialectal variation between the standard and Ilorin dialects
of the language.
