Dear LINGUIST List Subscribers,

First, we feel the need to rejoice a little: We've reached $50,000! Hooray!! Only
$17,000 to go until we reach our goal of $67,000! Can we make this an unusually short
Fund Drive, wrapping it up in just 5 weeks? With your help, we believe we can. Donate
today to help us sprint to the finish line:

https://linguistlist.org/donation/donate/donate1.cfm

Second, we're hoping to reach $55,000 by Thursday afternoon in order to release the
extra-special LingQuest Saga chapter, written by our extra-special guest star Trey Jones
of Speculative Grammarian fame (http://specgram.com). We're making pretty amazing
headway towards that goal, with $50,359 at the time of writing. Can we raise another
$5,000 in the next two days?

Perhaps laughter is the best incentive for giving; in that spirit, we'd like to point you
towards some of our favorite SpecGram features. Read and be merry:

-The perennial classic, "Choose Your Own Career in Lingustics:"
http://specgram.com/choose/

-The Linguistic Pantheon, much in tune with our own Fund Drive theme this year:
http://specgram.com/CLXI.2/12.cip.religion.html

-The complete March 2012 SpecGram issue, Volume CLXIV, Number 2:
http://specgram.com/CLXIV.2/

-And, of course, the "Language Made Difficult" podcast, to fill your ears and your heart
with linguistic laughter:

Now that we've whipped our readership into a frenzy of anticipation, scarce able to
contain their impatience for Friday's extra-special SpecGram LingQuest chapter, we hope
we'll be able to reach our $55,000 goal by Thursday afternoon; will you help us get
there?

Drolly yours,
The LINGUIST List Crew

The LINGUIST List is under the umbrella of Eastern Michigan University and as
such can receive donations through the EMU Foundation, which is a registered
501(c) Non Profit organization. Our Federal Tax number is 38-6005986. These
donations can be offset against your federal and sometimes your state tax
return (U.S. tax payers only). For more information visit the IRS Web-Site,
or contact your financial advisor.

Many companies also offer a gift matching program, such that they will match
any gift you make to a non-profit organization. Normally this entails your
contacting your human resources department and sending us a form that the
EMU Foundation fills in and returns to your employer. This is generally a
simple administrative procedure that doubles the value of your gift to
LINGUIST, without costing you an extra penny. Please take a moment to check if
your company operates such a program.

Thank you very much for your support of LINGUIST!
