Meeting Description:

The 'Tzartzaneia 2012' conference approaches the rather underrepresented linguistics area of Language Variation in Modern Greek. Paying tribute to Achilles Tzartzanos, a pioneer of Greek linguistics, the organizers' ambition is to bring in touch the concerned about the topic members of the researching and educational community, creating the conditions for a fruitful scientific dialogue, in order to analyze language variation, the nature of linguistic choices of the users of Modern Greek and the constraints due to linguistic, spatial and social factors. 

Call for Papers:

The proposals of papers should summarize the main points that will be covered by the paper. They will preferably present research results and they will describe the methodological framework and the object of the research, either it is dialectological or sociolinguistic. At the same time, a number of papers will be selected with research data and results from relevant applications and actions in education. The research (or micro-research) to be presented will have to be correlated to eventual prior research in the respective fields.

The presentations will last 20 minutes with another 10 minutes for questions and discussion. For those wishing to present their contribution to the conference, please submit an abstract by October 1, 2012 by electronic transmission to greeklanglab at gmail.com or tzartzaneia12 at gmail.com in accordance with the following specifications:

- File MS Word (not. PDF) 
- Size: 300-500 words (excluding references) 
- Font: Arial 11pt 
- Leading: single 
- Margins: 2.5 cm left-right, 3 cm up and down 
- Basics: the title of the paper, author's name, contact information (institution, email address) will be centered. It follows the body of the abstract and 4-6 keywords.

The abstracts will be evaluated anonymously by two members of the Scientific Committee, according to the criteria of clarity, documentation and their contribution to the expansion of existing knowledge on the topic of the conference. Information on acceptance will be made by October 26.
