The Department of Translation and Language Sciences at Universitat Pompeu
Fabra, Barcelona, is interested in hosting a senior researcher funded through
the ICREA Senior program. Areas of interest to the Department include
interpreting and translation studies (audiovisual translation, reception,
localization, specialized translation, etc.) and theoretical and applied
linguistics, including computational linguistics; preference will be given to
candidates that complement the Department’s existing research strengths.
Candidates can be of any nationality. Native or near-native command of one of
the following languages would be highly valued: Catalan, Spanish, English,
French, German, or a sign language.

ICREA (Catalan Institution for Research and Advanced Studies) is a foundation
promoted by the Catalan Government and will have a call for permanent
full-time researcher positions in the early spring. In this year's call ICREA
will announce 20 posts for exceptional candidates in any field with excellent
leadership capabilities and an outstanding research record. Note that
candidates should preferably have obtained their PhD prior to 2009 and must
have at least four years of international pre- or postdoctoral research
experience. The DTCL will only consider candidates whose credentials are at
least at the equivalent of the US Associate Professor or Full Professor level.

ICREA researchers are employed directly by ICREA and are associated with a
host university or research center in Catalonia. Candidates apply directly to
ICREA but require an expression of interest from a host institution. The
specific terms for the ICREA contracts as well as the conditions and
guidelines for application are available at the ICREA website
(http://www.icrea.cat). Please note that any inquiries related to the working
conditions established by ICREA or any general inquiries concerning the ICREA
call should be directed to ICREA and not to the Department of Translation and
Language Sciences.

Candidates who are interested in applying to ICREA with an expression of
interest from the Department of Translation and Language Sciences should
contact the email address listed below by March 1, 2013, attaching a CV and a
statement of research interests. The Department will contact those candidates
it is willing to sponsor by March 15 so that the candidate will have time to
prepare the ICREA application.
