Call Deadline: 30-Jun-2013

Meeting Description:

Special Session: Information, Languages, Computing: New Technologies (ILCNT 2013)
AMT-BHI 2013 Conference
http://wi-consortium.org/conferences/amtbi13/
October 29-31, 2013, Maebashi, Gumma, Japan

The computational fundamentals of information and languages are still widely open in many aspects and include concepts of information, syntax, semantics, syntax-semantics interfaces, computing and algorithms. Contemporary work on these fundamentals include important developments related to general boundaries on information and language in nature, and specialized restrictions depending on theories and technological applications, in specific domains, contexts, agents, users, etc.

Increasingly, new technologies involve handling complex and, typically, partial information, which can be specified by mixtures of artificial and natural languages. Intelligent developments are predominantly interdisciplinary and range across theoretical developments and applications. Computational approaches that are used in them are dependent on theories of computing and algorithms. This special event is on computational approaches and techniques from the perspectives of biological phenomena of information processing. We hope for a joint event at AMT-BHI 2013 that will contribute to encouraging new theoretical developments and applications, in areas such as:

- Fundamentals of information processing, information exchange
- Models of language interactions between humans and technological systems
- Neuroscience of information processing, reasoning, and language
- New active media technology based on fundamentals of information exchange in nature

Call for Papers:

The topics include, without being limited to:

- New approaches to computation: models of computations in nature, for applications to active media technologies
- Human language processing, by respecting biological nature of information and languages
- Computational aspects of information and languages in life nature
- Artificial languages and formal approaches to human language processing based on fundamentals of languages in nature
- New coverage of fundamentals of the concepts of algorithms, from the perspective of intelligent media, technological developments, and neuroscience of information processing
- Fundamentals of algorithms: syntax, semantics, and syntax-semantics interrelations
- Type theories for applications to language and information processing
- Computational semantics of natural and artificial languages
- Partiality, underspecification, and context-dependency of information
- Computational syntax-semantics interface
- Computational grammar of human language
- Multilingual processing
- Neuroscience of language
- Situation Theory and its applications (e.g., involving states, events situations, context, users, agents, space-time models, and other situated information)
- Formal methods in information and language processing, medical sciences, neuroscience, health care
- Integrated approaches involving formal, symbolic, model theoretic, quantitative, and other methods
- Philosophical foundations of logic, language, reasoning, cognition, information, computation, innate language capacities, bio-inspired technologies

Important Dates:

Deadline for submission of full papers: June 30, 2013
Notification of paper acceptance: July 10, 2013
Camera-ready of accepted papers: July 21, 2013

Submission Guidelines:

All accepted full papers will be published by Springer as a volume of the series of Lecture Notes in Computer Science/Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNCS/LNAI). Extensions of selected papers from the proceedings and selected abstracts will be considered for publication in special issues of international journals.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use Springer LNCS/LNAI manuscript submission guidelines (available at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html) for their initial submissions: a maximum of 12 pages in Springer LNCS/LNAI style file. All papers must be submitted electronically in PDF format only, using the conference management system:
