Meeting Description:

The 1st International Conference on English Language Teaching and Globalization will be held on November 22, 2013 at Tunghai University, Taichung, Taiwan. This conference aims to bring together researchers, teacher educators, and English teachers from different parts of the world to reposition themselves in relation to globalization. Socio-cultural factors and technological developments have impacted the teaching profession and reshaped research agendas and classroom practices. What globalization entails to a researcher may differ from what it means to a classroom teacher. These ongoing discussions have raised several important questions: How has globalization changed our expectation towards English language teaching and subsequently altered our classroom practices? How will the unstoppable trend of globalization shape English language teaching in the future? How can we strike a balance between continuing to use and celebrate the practices that work for us now and seeking out what will change our teaching in the future?
