Description:

Subject area
Slavic languages with a specialisation in Russian

Specific subject description
The University of Gothenburg offers education at all levels (first cycle, second cycle and third cycle) in the subject area of Slavic languages, including Russian. The research in the subject area can be divided into two main fields: linguistics and literature.

Job assignments
The work typically consists of 80% research and 20% teaching and/or other activities. The successful applicant will also be expected to participate in the development of the subject and the Department.

Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the University of Gothenburg’s Appointments Procedure. To be eligible for the position, the applicant must hold a doctoral degree or equivalent foreign degree. Since a postdoc constitutes a qualifying appointment for younger researchers, the advertised position targets primarily applicants with a doctoral degree obtained within 3 years prior to the application deadline.

Assessment
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the University of Gothenburg’s Appointments Procedure. In assessment of an applicant’s qualifications, particular attention will be given to documented scholarly proficiency in the relevant subject area. The applicant’s research plans will also be considered; a written project outline must be submitted for this purpose (maximum length: three A4 pages). Moreover, work experience in the areas of 1) linguistics and 2) modern Russian is a plus.

Application procedure
Please apply online.
The following documents should be enclosed with the application:
Cover letter
CV, including list of publications
Photocopy of doctoral diploma
Research plan and a description of how the project will contribute to the Department’s research work (maximum 5 pages).
