I am delighted to announce the release of Orange Textable v1.5.

Textable is an open source add-on bringing advanced text-analytical capacities
to the Orange Canvas visual programming environment (itself open source). It
can be thought of as a construction kit for text analysis: a set of primitive
components which can be (visually) arranged to build a variety of text
analysis applications.

The project's homepage is http://langtech.ch/textable , and the (extensive)
documentation is hosted at http://orange-textable.readthedocs.org/. To get a
feel of what Textable looks like, an example of how to use it for mining the
Humanist List archive is available at
http://orange-textable.readthedocs.org/en/latest/illustration.html .

Textable has been developed by LangTech Sarl on behalf of and in collaboration
with the University of Lausanne's department of language and information
sciences. It is compatible with Windows and MacOS X. Like Orange Canvas, it is
licensed under GNU GPL v3; unlike Orange Canvas, it is Unicode-compliant. It
imports raw text data (from keyboard, file, or the internet), possibly with
XML markup, and exports recoded texts or result data tables in tab-delimited
text format. It is programmed in Python (v2.7) and Orange Canvas offers ways
of scripting in that language.
