Assistant Professor in Linguistics

The Department of English at the American University of Beirut is seeking to fill a position of Assistant Professor in Linguistics, to begin August 15, 2016. 

We encourage applications from candidates with research interests in language acquisition (with a focus on child language development, first/second language acquisition, heritage languages, etc.) in a multilingual context or in phonetics/phonology. We especially welcome applicants whose research focuses on languages other than English, including Arabic, and demonstrates strong experimental/quantitative skills.

AUB faculty engage in research, teaching, and service. Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. by the time of appointment. They are expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate level and to participate in the collegial governance of the Department and University. The teaching load is 3/2 with generous support for junior faculty research. Appointments are for an initial period of four years with opportunities for renewal and advancement.
