Description:

The Department of Linguistics and Asian/Middle Eastern Languages seeks a
tenure-track assistant professor of linguistics to begin in fall 2017.  The
successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers in the
Digital Humanities Area of Excellence at San Diego State University and will
teach core courses in Linguistics as well as courses with interdisciplinary
appeal.  Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to, the
language of social media, African-American English, bilingualism, language
change, language processing in social contexts, and language documentation. 
Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a related field
completed by August 2017.  Preference will be shown to candidates with a
strong background in computational analysis or computational modeling with
proven applicability to their research.  The successful candidate will show a
clearly defined research agenda and demonstrate the potential to attract
students from across the university.
