Full Title: 1st Conference on Applied Linguistics and Philosophy of Language
Short Title: CALPL

Date: 02-Nov-2016 - 03-Nov-2016
Location: Dammam, Saudi Arabia
Contact Person: Chamseddine Mnasri
Meeting Email: cmnasri at ud.edu.sa

Linguistic Field(s): Applied Linguistics

Subject Language(s): English (eng)

Call Deadline: 15-May-2016

Meeting Description:

CALPL will be an interdisciplinary forum that brings together the research
findings of language experts as well as promising scholars from the different
but juxtaposed academic disciplines of Applied Linguistics and Philosophy of
Language. Both established and junior researchers will have the opportunity to
undermine academic boundaries between ''self-sufficient’’ structural
Linguistics and the elaborate and complex discipline of Philosophy of Language
in the hope of offering practical academic and pedagogical grounds for
language teaching and language learning.

Call for Papers:

The conference invites papers on any area of Applied Linguistics and
Philosophy of Language, with particular focus on the following themes:

- Applied Linguistics for English language teaching
- Non-native speakers' development of the skills of English as a foreign
language
- The role of meaning in language learning
- The role of language in social communication
- The role of cultural and social elements of communication in developing
second language learning

The contributions are expected to provide an appropriate methodological
framework with which to enhance both teachers' performance and students'
ability to assimilate and learn language skills in a culturally different
context.
