Meeting Description:

The Language Campus of the University of Jyväskylä is happy to welcome you all
to EuroSLA 26 on August 24-27, 2016 in Jyväskylä, Finland. The theme of the
conference is Looking back, looking forward: Language learning research at the
crossroads. Presentations of taking stock of what we have achieved and where
we are going in a particular area of study are thus especially welcome. The
Language Learning Roundtable will discuss second language learning by a
variety of groups in a particular situation, to bring in new views for the
Eurosla community.

The conference is organized back-to-back with Psychology of Language Learning
2: Individuals in Contexts, Monday August 21 – Wednesday, August 24, 2016.
Both events are organized in Jyväskylä, Finland.


Call for Papers:

EUROSLA 26 

Wednesday, August 24 – Saturday, August 27, 2016
University of Jyväskylä, Finland

We are inviting proposals for presentations at Eurosla 26. All areas and
approaches of the study of learning second/foreign/additional languages are
welcome. The theme of the conference is Looking back, looking forward:
Language learning research at the crossroads. Presentations of taking stock of
what we have achieved and where we are going in a particular area of study are
thus especially welcome. The Language Learning Roundtable will discuss second
language learning by a variety of groups in a particular situation, to bring
in new views for the Eurosla community. Such new openings are also welcome for
the main part of the conference.

The academic programme will consist of presentations by the participants and
the invited keynote speakers, as well as the doctoral student workshop on
Wednesday, August 24, with feedback from senior researchers. The submission of
presentation proposals opens on February 1, 2016, and closes on February 28,
2016. The proposals are submitted by filling in an online form at
https://congress.cc.jyu.fi/eurosla26/.

Types of presentations: 1) paper, 2) poster, 3) colloquium, with thematically
related papers, discussion and audience participation. Also, if you have an
idea for a new type of event, please get in touch with the organizers with the
outline of your plan.

Length of abstracts: paper or poster (max. 300 words, including references),
colloquium (max. 500 words, including titles of papers but no mention of
presenters by name. If a colloquium proposal is accepted, an abstract will be
requested for each paper, max 300 words.

Length of presentations in the conference:

Paper: 20 min. and 10 min. for discussion and change of rooms

Poster: size AO, max. Presenters will also be given the opportunity to present
the main points in a 2 min. (max.) talk.

Colloquium: 90 or 180 min.

Language policy: The working language of the conference is English but
presentations are also welcome in other European languages.

Presenter policy: Each participant can appear as the first author of one
presentation only. A colloquium convener can also present at the colloquium or
elsewhere in the programme.

The proposals for all presentations will be evaluated anonymously by at least
two members of the Eurosla Scientific committee. The criteria include the
quality of the content and the clarity of the abstract, contribution to the
field and thematic relevance.

Presentation acceptances will be sent out by April 25, 2016.
