Description:

Position Summary:

The Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African
Languages at Michigan State University is seeking a full-time assistant
professor or instructor, beginning August 16, 2016. This is a fixed-term,
non-renewable, nine-month, academic year position.  

Duties will include teaching 5 courses over two semesters in undergraduate
sociolinguistics, multiple sections of Introduction to Linguistics and a
graduate seminar in the candidate’s area of expertise. Some supervision of
graduate students is also expected. 

Minimum Qualifications: MA degree in an appropriate field. The successful
candidate will have research experience in quantitative sociolinguistics.
Interests related areas of linguistics, such as phonetics, syntax, or language
acquisition, would be desirable. 

Desired Degree: Doctoral or MA

Desired Qualifications: Ph.D. A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching
and research.
