Meeting Description:

This is the annual summer meeting of the Society for Pidgin and Creole
Linguistics on the linguistics of contact languages, including but not limited
to pidgins and creoles.

In addition to the plenary sessions with invited speakers and
thematically-organized sessions, this meeting will feature an intensive
mini-course designed for students engaged in or planning fieldwork projects in
which primary data will be collected.

This meeting is co-sponsored by the University of Tampere and the University
of Turku.


2nd Call for Papers:

The Society for Pidgin and Creole Linguistics will hold its annual summer
conference from the 19th through the 22nd of June, 2017 in Tampere, Finland,
at the University of Tampere, where it is being co-sponsored with the
University of Turku. Abstracts for twenty-minute presentations on any area
pertinent to the linguistic study of pidgins, creoles, converted languages,
mixed languages, emerging urban varieties, multiethnolects, and any other type
of contact language are invited for anonymous review.

An abstract of no more than 500 words (not including title or data examples)
should be submitted using EasyAbs. The submission link is
http://linguistlist.org/easyabs/SPCLFinland2017. After your title, clearly
identify the domain(s) of inquiry in which your submission should be reviewed
(e.g. syntax, morphology, phonology, sociolinguistics, acquisition).
Diachronic and corpus research are particularly welcome, as is research
pertaining to translation from and into contact language varieties. Please
refrain from including your name or any other self-identifying information in
your abstract. Individuals who are unable to access EasyAbs should email the
abstract as an MS Word document to spcl2017 at uta.fi. Include ''abstract for
SPCL Finland 2017'' in the subject line. The abstract submission deadline is
30 November 2016. Acceptance notification will be sent by 15 January.
