Lecturer in Spanish

The Department of Global Languages and Cultures at Northern Arizona University
invites applications for a full-time, benefit eligible, non-tenure eligible
Lecturer in Spanish. This position, beginning Fall 2017, is renewable on a
year-to-year basis contingent upon performance, departmental needs, and
university funding.

Responsibilities include teaching courses in linguistics, applied linguistics,
second language acquisition, pedagogy, capstone courses in linguistics, and
other program duties (e.g., student advising, assessment reports, oral
proficiency rating, mentoring study abroad students).

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Spanish or related field
- Two years of teaching experience in a US institution of higher education 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Superior proficiency in Spanish and English, evidenced by ACFTL rating,
educational experience, or equivalent 
- A record of demonstrated excellence in teaching
- PhD or ABD in applied linguistics or related field
- A record of on-going professional engagement and development
- Interest in and/or familiarity with and experience in mentoring students in
internship programs and study abroad.
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in teaching courses for heritage
language learners
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations on campus and in
the community.

taught

- 3 recent letters of recommendations not confidential and uploaded into the 1
document
