Meeting Description: 

The current international scientific conference Meaning in language and
culture devoted to Jonas Jablonskis will be held on 23–24 September 2016 at
the Faculty of Philology of Vilnius University. In comparison to previous
conferences, it will focus on semantics, a least stressed J. Jablonskis'
field.

The main goal of the 23rd international scientific conference Meaning in
language and culture is to bring together international academic community
interested in various semantic aspects of language and provide the opportunity
for scholars representing different schools and approaches to exchange ideas,
expertise and knowledge in any area of semantics.

The forthcoming Jonas Jablonskis’ conference will focus on various semantic
issues in old writings, dialects and standard language. This year, next to
traditional sections, a completely new field will be presented, namely meaning
explored in culture. The conference will include four sections dealing with
semantic issues on various levels:

- Section of Standard Language
- Section of Dialectology
- Section of Ethnolinguistics
- Section of Old Baltic Writings

- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Loreta Vilkienė (Vilnius University)
