Lecturer of Language and Education, PK-12 Certification Track

Position: The TESOL and Applied Linguistics Program at Teachers College,
Columbia University is seeking a Lecturer with demonstrated teaching
experience and a research profile in PK-12 language pedagogy as well as
thorough experience in fieldwork. The term for the position is one-year (Sep
1, 2017 – Aug 31, 2018).

Responsibilities: Teach graduate courses in TESOL PK-12 pedagogy and student
teaching practica in the PK-12 track and help coordinate fieldwork, incl.
student placements, teacher observation and supervision, and edTPA workshops.
The teaching load is five, three-credit courses per academic year with the
possibility of teaching up to two summer courses for extra pay depending on
program need. Advise M.A. students. Possibly serve on dissertation committees.
Participate in routine program administrative activities. 

Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in TESOL/Applied Linguistics, a
record of successful ESL teaching experience in U.S. PK-12 settings,
preferably in the U.S., experience placing and supervising student teachers,
demonstrated record of graduate level teaching and program administration,
ability to perform administrative duties, and ability to work collaboratively.
Experience with edTPA.

Desired Qualifications: Record of research, knowledge of applications of
learning technologies in TESOL teacher education, evidence of service to the
field of TESOL/Applied Linguistics.
