Meeting Description:

The Iorgu Iordan – Alexandru Rosetti Institute of Linguistics, the Romanian
Academy, Bucharest is pleased to invite you to The First International
Conference on Emotions, Language Processing and Psycholinguistic Testing that
will take place between 12-15 October, 2017 in Bucharest, Romania.

As the world is turning multilingual and multicultural, research on emotion
processing and on the processing and perception of figurative and literal
language use, and of both mono- and multi-linguals has shifted towards a more
experimental, multidisciplinary approach blending linguistics, psychology, or
neurology, to name but a few. In this context, our conference aims at creating
a productive scholarly environment dedicated to specialists from a wide array
of relevant disciplines. As this multidisciplinary approach calls for both
theoretical and practical knowledge, besides the presentations in the plenary
and breakout sessions (see proposed topics below), we are organising a
half-day hands-on workshop (4-6 hours) on psycholinguistic testing, an
opportunity for participants to see how psychological software (such as
E-prime), psychological tests (such as BDI), statistics and language analysis
can be used in the study of emotions as well as of literal and nonliteral
language use.
