Description:

Florida State University's School of Teacher Education in the College of
Education invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-earning
assistant/associate professor position in Second Language and TESOL Education.
The position will begin in August 2018 and offers the opportunity to work in a
research university with accomplished and innovative faculty committed to
transforming the field of education. For more information about the college,

Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in Second Language Education, Language, Literacy and
Culture, or a related field by August 2018. A strong record of scholarship as
indicated by peer reviewed journal publications, conference presentations, and
collaborative projects. A research agenda that operates within a strong
theoretical and empirical approach to understanding second language
development within instructional settings. Experience teaching courses in SLE,
TESOL, ESOL, or Applied Linguistics. Advanced proficiency in English and a
language other than English.

Preferred:

Experience teaching English language learners in K-12 and second and foreign
language settings. Experience collaborating with Modern Language Departments
and/or K-12 Schools.Strong communication, collaboration, and organization
skills. Experience teaching courses in an online platform.

Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities include: engaging in a promising and clearly-defined
research agenda and publishing in the field of TESOL, Second Language
Education (SLE), or Second Language Acquisition (SLA); teaching graduate
courses in TESOL, SLE, SLA, ESOL, and Applied Linguistics; mentoring graduate
students and directing doctoral dissertations; seeking external funding;
assisting in program coordination in collaboration with program faculty; and
service to the department, college, university, and profession.

Background Check:

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background
check.
