Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics

Call Deadline: 22-Apr-2017

Meeting Description:

The StuTS is an independently organised German (and partially English)
conference, which covers a wide range of linguistic disciplines. It is held
once every semester. Universities in and around Germany take turns hosting the
StuTS. Its goal is to offer students of all linguistic subjects an opportunity
to get to know one another and to exchange opinions.

The StuTS sets its focus on scientific research as well as on social
activities among students. Students can give talks on a particular topic of
their own research, their thesis or their subject in general, or hold a
language tutorial. The StuTS offers the unique chance to practise presenting
ideas without the pressure of a lecture course or famous experts being
present.

As a highlight of the conference, the organisational committee will invite
keynote speakers, usually acclaimed professors of the local university. These
can represent the university's research profile and present their research to
other universities' students.

Finally, the external students get the chance to get to know the place and
people of the hosting university through city or campus tours and at the party
and the brunch at the end.

Call for Papers:

StuTS Zürich invites all students, be it Bachelors, Masters or PhD to
contribute to the program of the 61st Studentische Tagung Sprachwissenschaft,
an independently organised German (and partially English language) conference
covering a wide range of linguistic disciplines. The conference will take
place at the University of Zurich from the 25 to the 28 of May 2017.

There are no restrictions regarding the linguistic subject of presentations:
it may be a particular topic of your own research, a thesis, or a subject of
your own interest. Presentations may be delivered in English or German and
should take a total of 30 minutes, consisting of 20 minutes presentation and
10 minutes discussion time.

The deadline for sending in your abstract is the 22 of April 2017. Your
abstract should be no longer than 250 words, and should be uploaded directly
onto our website http://www.stuts61.uzh.ch/en/call-for-papers.html while
registering your presentation. Registration is possible from now on. We accept
