The Seminar will consist of the description and analysis of the fundamental concepts of Linguistic Policy, Linguistic Planning and Linguistic Policy Evaluation, as well as its objectives and methods. During the four sessions of the seminar, the exponents will refer to specific cases that they have investigated. Of the four sessions, three of them will be held in English and one in Spanish. The Seminar will last a week, with 20 hours, in a total of 4 days (except on August the 2nd, which is a holiday). Each exponent will give a four-hour workshop. We are considering the possibility that postgraduate students of the University of Costa Rica receive a credit for their attendance*.

The Seminar will consist of four parts:

- Overview of LPP (Language Policy and Planning). History, objectives and
outputs of LPP. It will be presented by Dr. David Cassels Johnson, University
of Iowa: “Language Policy and Planning: Theory, Method, and Findings.”

effectiveness of LPP and thus measure it in various fields of social and
economic life. It will be presented by Dr. Michele Gazzola, Humboldt
University in Berlin: “Evaluation in Language Policy and Planning (LPP).”
- Interlinguistic. The study of planned languages is also part of LPP and is
an adequate contribution to the Seminar. Interlinguistics also studies the
