Subject Language(s): French (fra)

Call Deadline: 15-May-2017

Special issue on the Topic

“Effective (multilingual) communication. Viewpoints on literacy and text
comprehensibility”

Timetable

15th May 2017 (extended deadline) submission of an abstract
15th June 2017: review and notification to authors
31st August 2017: deadline for the full paper
30th October: feedback with double blind review process
30th November 2017: deadline for the finalized paper

Scope:

This thematic issue will be focused on:
- The assessment of message readability and comprehensibility;
- The link between (un)readability and linguistic complexity;
- The development of writing strategies in official guidelines and handbooks
(i.e. choice of synonyms, paraphrasing, simplification);
- Writing quality criteria and certificates in professional writing;
- Access to information for the foreign/non-expert/illiterate user, especially
in a multilingual context;
- The role of context and co-text in reading comprehension: information
architecture; multimodality; image readability.

The above list is by no means exhaustive, and other papers are of course
welcome and encouraged by the guest editors if literacy and comprehensibility
are central variables.

''Repères-Dorif'' is an open access peer-reviewed journal on French
linguistics. It is highly ranked in the Italian list of academic journals
(http://www.anvur.org/index.php?lang=en). Papers on French are given priority,
but it is also possible to submit a proposal on other languages.
